Long Description:

Petersgate has 25 counsellors all with tertiary training and most with full NZAC membership. Our agency is committed to providing low-cost professional supervision and counselling, especially to those who can least afford these services. We do not deal generally with children under 12 years, or with drug and/or alcohol related problems. We do provide a confidential, relaxed and safe environment where a wide range of personal and relational issues can be explored.

Long Description:

Confidential information, advice and referral service for people with questions about their own or someone elses drinking or drug use. Callers can access brief interventions while those needing ongoing counselling are referred to appropriate local services.

The Christchurch City Mission supports, cares and advocates for people marginalised by social and economic factors and who are at risk through poor mental health, family breakdown, unemployment, inadequate housing, financial mismanagement and drug/alcohol abuse. The City Mission works in both crisis and preventative ways to improve the quality of these people’s lives and to enable them to become more self-sufficient in the community. Long Description:

Providing community support services for the people of Canterbury whose lives are adversely affected by depression, including group support, one to one support, resource information and education courses. Services available for youth and adults who are experiencing depression, as well as family, friends and whanau, who are supporting someone experiencing depression. An open group every Friday in Waltham from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am – 3:00pm (Appointments may be arranged outside of these times if required).

Karanga Mai is a school for teen and young parents. We offer a licensed child-care centre for 0-5 year olds; transport to and from the College; the opportunity to study and gain qualifications at secondary and tertiary level, with help from qualified teachers; support with career planning and other services such as budgeting advice, Plunket and WINZ.

Since 1984 Stopping Violence Services (SVS) has provided community and mandated interventions to stop family violence. SVS provides interventions for male and female,  youth and adults. Interventions may involve individual or group programmes, whanau, psychosocial, and couples.  SVS clinicians have a background in social work, counselling, education, psychology and belong to professional organisations. Enabling YouthE. info@svschch.org.nz   | www.enablingyouth.co.nz Providing an individualised programme for young men and women, aged between 11 and 24 years old, focusing of managing anger, behaviour change, managing difficult emotions, enhancing self esteen, providing communication skills, problem solving. The Enabling Youth programme can help youth discover OK ways to deal with problems of frustration, stress and anger safely.

We are also providing services to the Muslim community following the Christchurch Mosque attacks.
