Long Description:

Community Law Canterbury offers free legal help, legal information by phone, legal education and support for community groups. We have evening drop in times and day time appointments in the Central City. You can get an appointment at one of our outreaches in New Brighton, Hornby, Linwood (The Loft), Papanui, Aranui (ACTIS), Nga Hua e Wha Marae, Rapaki Marae, Tuahiwi Marae, Ashburton, Timaru and Greymouth.

Our Vision: Thriving woven communities Our Mission: Developing resilient children and youth of character Established 1989 The Primary Project: It is now six years since we established The Primary Project, moving from a programme to presence based model. We work with and  three local primary schools and their wider communities. The aim is to see the local school, community and church working better together for children and families to bring about four shared outcomes: Students achieving Families strengthened Kids enjoying life Communities woven Touch Modules: In term four each year we run two community Touch Modules attracting over 300 children and their families. These give opportunity to those children and their families who would not otherwise be involved in sport. It is a low key, fun environment with an opportunity to learn new skills and to be part of the volunteer crew. Origin Sport: Our coordinator plans several inter-school competitions each year for children in Years 3 and 4 at 5 local primary schools. The competitions are run between several local schools and are a joint venture between the school, the local church, Community Board and Sport Canterbury. Our coordinator also runs a holiday programme each term during the holidays.

We aim to support children with DCD/Developmental Dyspraxia by supporting families and caregivers. Services include an advisory and support service for parents, caregivers, schools and professionals; Funlink Playgroup for primary aged children, Funtween for intermediate aged children and Funteen group for secondary school aged; member library, seminars, presentations, talks by arrangement, Friday coffee focus meetings.

Long Description:

We provide a variety of services to anyone affected by a loved one’s addiction. This ranges from one on one counselling, support and education through to intensive outpatient programmes. Our staff consists of trained and experienced consumers, providing clients with first hand support and knowledge. Long Description:

Kaiapoi Community Support is a central place from which people in the Kaiapoi area can access information about a range of government and local services. We provide assistance to the community through our food bank and volunteer drivers, or by linking people to the appropriate helping agency. A coordinator, supported by a team of trained volunteers, is based at the Centre to provide information and a link to agencies. Kaiapoi Community Support was set up to support the local community in any way possible, and to initiate services that promote the wellbeing of people in the town.

Pillars provide services to individuals and families that are affected by imprisonment including: Nationwide Helpline 0508 PILLARS Long term intensive homebased social work support Children of prisoners mentoring programme Information and advice website www.justus.org.nz – for children of prisoners, their parent/caregivers, and professionals   To be referred the child/children will have a parent who is currently serving a custodial sentence, or alternatively caregivers who have children or young people in their care who have a parent or close family member serving a custodial sentence. People may self-refer or be referred by a vareity of services, including but not limited to social workers in schools, Corrections, Oranga Tamariki, NGO support services, DHBs, ACC, and Ministry of Health.

  Presbyterian Support is a not-for-profit social services organisation serving the community through two service groups: Family Works (for children and families) and Enliven (for older people).Family Works services include office, school, and home-based counselling and therapy, social work, group parenting programmes, financial capability, and youth services. Enliven services include day activity programmes, community social work and support, and falls prevention education. Kaiāwhina work with older Māori and their whānau.

Skylight is a highly regarded national not-for-profit trust that enables children, young people, their families/whānau and friends to navigate through tough times of trauma, loss and grief. Skylight also facilitates their access to expert information, education, professional services and support. We also educate, train and support professionals, agencies and individuals who assist those dealing with trauma, loss and grief. Our services include: A national resource and information centre Nationwide free lending library with specialised resources including books, games and DVDs A shop of specialised support resources Training and professional development nationwide Support groups Travellers – a national secondary school based resilience programme for young people Counselling services  Waves – a bereaved by suicide programme for adults Parenting through separation courses

Long Description:

We provide support for young parents and youth up to 24 years of age. We offer advocacy including one-to-one support, counselling, group work, Little Owls Preschool and Eating Awareness Team.
