The Mental Health Education and Resource Centre (MHERC) provides information, a free public library, as well as professional development and community education about mental health, wellbeing, mental illness, and addiction. Our services are available to everyone, including those who may be affected by mental illness, seeking wellbeing for themselves or others, and those working in the mental health or social service sectors. Support: Friendly, knowledgeable staff to assist you in finding appropriate information and services to meet your needs. Library: Free public library with books, DVDs and CDs on a wide range of topics including stress, sleep, child and adolescent wellbeing, communication, relationships, anxiety, depression, addiction, and much more. Resources: Brochures and fact sheets, including local support services available. Professional Development: Our courses aim to enhance participants’ knowledge, understanding and attitudes from a researched evidence and strengths based perspective. We provide practical skills and tools for participants to use in their everyday practice. We run courses throughout the year and can also provide onsite training to organisations. Community Education: Along with our collaborative partners we are able to offer free or affordable education workshops in the community. Education for NGO’s, agencies and businesses: Our expertise in workplace psychology and education enables us to provide both standard and custom solutions to help you achieve a happy, engaged, knowledgeable and skilled workforce. Meeting Room Hire: Our well-equipped meeting room is available for hire for eligible community organisations and businesses at affordable rates.

Healthline is a free telephone advice service staffed by registered nurses. Healthline is available for all, from the newborn to the elderly, and is accessible from either a landline or a cell phone.
The 24 Hour Surgery is open 24 hours a day, every day for you and your family when your own doctor is not available. The surgery provides urgent medical and accident care, a fracture service, radiology facilities and an observation unit.
The Christchurch Budget Service (CBS) is Christchurch’s only independent charitable budget service that is not aligned to any political party or religious organisation. CBS is strictly private and confidential and does not disclose client’s private and personal information with any Government ministry or agency. CBS provides free budget and debt management assistance, education, advocacy and advice for Cantabrian wage & salary earners, self- employed, independent contractors, superannuitants and students.
The Christchurch City Mission supports, cares and advocates for people marginalised by social and economic factors and who are at risk through poor mental health, family breakdown, unemployment, inadequate housing, financial mismanagement and drug/alcohol abuse. The City Mission works in both crisis and preventative ways to improve the quality of these people’s lives and to enable them to become more self-sufficient in the community. If you or someone you care about has been at risk of HIV, reach out to one of our team at New Zealand Aids Foundation (NZAF) Health Services. Our counselling services are available to anyone living or affected by HIV, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age or sexual orientation. We work with individuals, couples and groups. Counselling is free and confidential.
P.A.T.H.S. provides help and support for anyone affected by a recent or past abortion. We offer individual professional counselling, run a quarterly Connect Group for those who have had recent or past abortion/termination experience, and have a private Facebook support group. We provide presentations and seminars to churches, community and professional groups on post abortion issues, including training in a 10-step programme for healing after abortion/termination.
