Long Description:

  A free and confidential crisis helpline service. Lifeline provides brief intervention counselling support for all areas of concern, for example: relationships, employment, finances, abuse, suicide, parenting, sexual identity, substance abuse, mental illness, and depression. Lifeline is often the first step for people reaching out for help. Lifeline’s helpline operators will help to clarify the situation you are facing and the support that you would like to receive. This can include providing you with a list of support agencies that you can contact.  

Long Description:

Petersgate has 25 counsellors all with tertiary training and most with full NZAC membership. Our agency is committed to providing low-cost professional supervision and counselling, especially to those who can least afford these services. We do not deal generally with children under 12 years, or with drug and/or alcohol related problems. We do provide a confidential, relaxed and safe environment where a wide range of personal and relational issues can be explored.

Home and Family is an independent Christchurch based Incorporated Society that works with children, youth, adults and families facing barriers to positive outcomes in their lives. Home & Family was originally established as the Society for the Protection of Women and Children and has been in operation for over 115 years. This family focused, forward thinking still drives Home & Family today and we now offer residential parenting programmes and a counselling service. Residential parenting programme: Home & Family provide 24 hour supported accommodation for parents with babies/children. Counselling:  Affordable, professional and confidential counselling service for families (including couples) and children.

Long Description:

A free telephone help line for children and young people up to 18 years of age. Kidsline will listen, support, and explore options with all callers. The Kidsline phones are answered at any time of day, but between 4pm and 9pm on weekdays you can speak to trained Year 12 and Year 13 students called ‘Buddies’.

If you or someone you care about has been at risk of HIV, reach out to one of our team at New Zealand Aids Foundation (NZAF) Health Services. Our counselling services are available to anyone living or affected by HIV, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age or sexual orientation. We work with individuals, couples and groups. Counselling is free and confidential.

Long Description:

P.A.T.H.S. provides help and support for anyone affected by a recent or past abortion. We offer individual professional counselling, run a quarterly Connect Group for those who have had recent or past abortion/termination experience, and have a private Facebook support group. We provide presentations and seminars to churches, community and professional groups on post abortion issues, including training in a 10-step programme for healing after abortion/termination.

Appointments are essential Free counselling service for up to 10 sessions per client. Our counsellors (some are fully qualified and some are students on placement) deal with a wide range of issues. Appointments are accessed via a waitlist – self referral only A wide range of resources and information on other community organisations and agencies A variety of low-cost courses throughout the year to encourage women’s wellbeing facilitated by qualified tutors Membership and library Lesbian support and resources Three consultation rooms and meeting room for hire

  STOP provides assessment and intervention for men, women and adolescents who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour and children with concerning sexual behaviour. Long Description:

We are a social-work based peer support organisation for people affected by Asperger Syndrome. We provide Peer support, social work services, advocacy, counselling and information; preparation for employment, workplace staff training and mentoring; advocacy in schools, guidance about educational choices, training for professional staff. Pre and post-diagnosis counselling and information about where to go to obtain a diagnosis, and support in attending interviews with Work and Income, your GP and others.
