START is a specialist non-government organisation social service that has significant experience in the field of sexual abuse recovery work with child, youth and adult victims of sexual crime. START offers specialist and professional sexual abuse counselling. This is subsidised and where possible, free to service users. START provides family work services and support to whanau free of charge, alongside victim counselling. START provides consultation regarding sexual abuse issues to members of both the general and professional community free of charge. START provides low cost educational workshops regarding concerns of sexual abuse to members of the professional and general community. START is committed to client confidentiality however this is limited when we have safety concerns. This means that if START becomes aware of situations where children, young persons or adults are at risk, appropriate action will be taken.

Since 1984 Stopping Violence Services (SVS) has provided community and mandated interventions to stop family violence. SVS provides interventions for male and female,  youth and adults. Interventions may involve individual or group programmes, whanau, psychosocial, and couples.  SVS clinicians have a background in social work, counselling, education, psychology and belong to professional organisations.
