Petersgate has 25 counsellors all with tertiary training and most with full NZAC membership. Our agency is committed to providing low-cost professional supervision and counselling, especially to those who can least afford these services. We do not deal generally with children under 12 years, or with drug and/or alcohol related problems. We do provide a confidential, relaxed and safe environment where a wide range of personal and relational issues can be explored.
Attitude provides a variety of life skills programmes to high schools throughout New Zealand. All information on presentations and resources can be found on their website. Attitude is the youth education division of The Parenting Place.
Providing community support services for the people of Canterbury whose lives are adversely affected by depression, including group support, one to one support, resource information and education courses. Services available for youth and adults who are experiencing depression, as well as family, friends and whanau, who are supporting someone experiencing depression. An open group every Friday in Waltham from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am – 3:00pm (Appointments may be arranged outside of these times if required).

Since 1984 Stopping Violence Services (SVS) has provided community and mandated interventions to stop family violence. SVS provides interventions for male and female, youth and adults. Interventions may involve individual or group programmes, whanau, psychosocial, and couples. SVS clinicians have a background in social work, counselling, education, psychology and belong to professional organisations. The Enabling Youth programme can help youth discover OK ways to deal with problems of frustration, stress and anger safely.
Pillars provide services to individuals and families that are affected by imprisonment including: Nationwide Helpline 0508 PILLARS Long term intensive homebased social work support Children of prisoners mentoring programme Information and advice website www.justus.org.nz – for children of prisoners, their parent/caregivers, and professionals To be referred the child/children will have a parent who is currently serving a custodial sentence, or alternatively caregivers who have children or young people in their care who have a parent or close family member serving a custodial sentence. People may self-refer or be referred by a vareity of services, including but not limited to social workers in schools, Corrections, Oranga Tamariki, NGO support services, DHBs, ACC, and Ministry of Health.
Presbyterian Support is a not-for-profit social services organisation serving the community through two service groups: Family Works (for children and families) and Enliven (for older people).Family Works services include office, school, and home-based counselling and therapy, social work, group parenting programmes, financial capability, and youth services. Enliven services include day activity programmes, community social work and support, and falls prevention education. Kaiāwhina work with older Māori and their whānau.
We provide support for young parents and youth up to 24 years of age. We offer advocacy including one-to-one support, counselling, group work, Little Owls Preschool and Eating Awareness Team.
West Christchurch Women’s Refuge provides services for women, children and family/whanau affected by domestic violence. We provide a 24 hr crisis/support phone line, refuge safe house residential support services, community outreach services, Whanau Protect National Home Safety Service, support, advocacy and training and education to organisations and the wider community.
