A South Island regional specialist psychiatric service for Canterbury residents. This includes outpatient assessment and treatment of people with a primary diagnosis of anorexia nervosa, binge eating disorder, bulimia nervosa or eating disorder not otherwise specified. This is primarily provided through individual and group therapy. For all South Island residents, it provides patients inpatient admission for weight restoration, medical stabilisation and/or acute assessment. Regionally the service also provides extensive multi-disciplinary clinical consultation, liaison and training to Mental Health clinicians.
This team provides consultation, liaison, assessment, treatment, follow-up, education and training, based in the community and the Canterbury Prisons. A liaison nurse based at the Christchurch Courts coordinates the Court Liaison Service, assessing people for whether they may require a report under the Criminal Procedure Mentally Impaired Persons Act 2003 and to advise the Court about mental health issues of people appearing. Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm
A recovery focused seven-day a week assertive community based follow-up outpatient service for individuals who experience a major and complex functional mental illness requiring post hospital continuing care and rehabilitation support. Hours of business: 8.30am to 5.00pm

A six bed regional inpatient unit providing specialist medical withdrawal management and stabilisation from alcohol and other drugs, for those with alcohol and/or other drug dependence.
A South Island regional specialist service providing psychiatric treatment for pregnant women and parents with babies up to 12 months old (at time of admission). The team provides inpatient and outpatient treatment for women who experience depression and other psychological and psychiatric difficulties during pregnancy and after the birth of their babies.
As part of the Older Persons Health Service, we provide community, inpatient, day hospitaland outpatient services including diagnosis, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for people over the age of 65 years with primary psychiatric or organic disorder and any concurrent physical disorders.Hours: 24 hour service.
Specialist outpatient service providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment and therapeutic intervention for children, adolescents and adults to age 65 years who are culturally displaced refugees or migrants to New Zealand and suffer from a diagnoses or suspected psychiatric disorder. Referrals are received from schools and community agencies, GP’s and other health professionals. Where appropriate, clients are referred on to other services. The service has a close relationship with wide range of interpreters.
