InsideOUT is a national organisation with the vision for all rainbow young people in Aotearoa New Zealand to have a sense of safety and belonging in their schools and communitites. We do this through providing a range of information, resources, training and support to schools, workplaces, governement agencies, organisations, community groups, whānau and individuals, as well as running a number of youth development programmes. Nic Dorward is based in Christchurch, she’s the Canterbury Waitaha Schools Coordinator. Nic supports schools to set up and maintain queer straight alliances (QSA’s)/diversity groups and offers professional development to school staff on sex, sexuality and gender diversity. Nic also runs Q’D Up, a monthly group to support and mentor student leaders of their respective QSA’s. Nic often speaks at school assemblies and supports schools to be more rainbow inclusive.
