Last year Volunteering Canterbury supported 300 not-for-profit organisations enabling them to help over 36,000 people in need. We recruited over 1,000 volunteers for our members, who donated over 306,000 hours as a whole. Recruitment of Volunteers: Volunteers are welcome to register on our website for free, and apply for any of the volunteer roles published. We can arrange interviews for those who wish to meet with a Volunteering Canterbury staff member to discuss how volunteering can help them. We follow up to track progress and try and overcome any barriers to volunteering. We also arrange group volunteering at not-for-profit organisations that have a specific need or project. Support not-for-profit organisations: Through our Tautoko Network event, we run professional training workshops, e.g. Volunteer Leadership, Best Practice Guidelines, Social Media Marketing, and monthly support meetings, as well as sending out newsletters to members and volunteers. We offer a 1:1 service with any not-for-profit organisation that wishes to discuss their volunteer programme. Promote: We promote volunteering as widely as possible, presenting and holding displays at schools, universities, community groups, community expos, local events and other events. We recognise volunteers at our annual Volunteer Awards, and also run events on other significant volunteer days to champion volunteers.
