PERINATAL WELLBEING CANTERBURY
Community based suppot for parents who are experiencing a decline in mental wellbeing relating to, or resulting from, pregnancy, childbirth and parenting within the first 1,000 days (pregnancy to three years). Facilitated Support Groups: Safe space for mums with perinatal depression and anxiety to connect and acknowledge their stuggles. They learn a variety of practical tools and strategies to enable them to take back control of their lives and manage their mental wellbeing. Police vetted volunteers are present to take care of the children while the mums are in group. Playgroup: Parents with a decline in perinatal mental wellbeing come together in a safe place with others who know what they are experiencing and do not judge. Our facilitator is available to chat and playgroup is a great transition either before or after attending our support group. Support for Dads: Informal peer facilitated opportunity for fathers to meet for support, information and fellowship. Includes men who themselves are or whose partners are affected by perinatal mental wellbeing issues. Antenatal Group: Peer facilitated drop-in group that provides information and support. No referral required.
